Happy Birthday, Hannah!

I still have a hard time believing my baby is 5! I remember so well the night Superman and I learned we would be parents. And the scares I had during my pregnancy. And the sleepless nights. And . . . I could go on and on. But 5? Really?!

When we began planning her birthday celebration, it was supposed to be small and intimate. What we had NOT counted on was that at 5, she has friends. And she wants those friends to be a part of her celebration. So, our small and intimate celebration turned out to be big and fun :-) She had a blast!

They have NEVER let me down on designing a beautiful cake!!!

NOW you know why it's always so noisy at my parent's house :-)

And THAT'S why it's always so noisy when we all get together at MeMe & PaPa's house :-)
Avery + Chloe = BFF
I love these two girls!

Hannah got TONS of great gifts but of COURSE the grandparents always pick the best things!

Grandma and Grandpa got the bike.
Hannah was excited because she has been outgrowing hers - her knees have been hitting the handlebars when she has ridden it this summer.
And MeMe and PaPa got her the camera. She's been saving her money for this, so now she gets to pick something else to spend those dollars on! She is such a photographer . . . she is following in her daddy's footsteps. She's not half bad, either!
After all the festivities, here is what I saw on the way to church . . . such a diva and only 5 years old. I think Superman and I have our work cut out for us with this one! (yes, that is lip gloss in her hand)

Disney on Ice 2010

So, not only does the Oklahoma State Fair always fall during the time of Hannah's birthday but Disney on Ice comes to the Oklahoma State Fair every year! Last year was the first time we took Hannah but I think it has become an annual tradition. This year, we let Chloe come along too. I mean, it's only fair . . . she sleeps with Mickey and Minnie every night :-)

Here's how much fun they had ---

Chloe was watching until she saw the light on the camera!

It was fun to watch her waving at her "friends" . . . so funny :-)

And it's really hard to catch a good picture while they skaters are whizzing by,
but here are a few of our favorite princesses.

And Mickey and Minnie, of course!!!

Coming soon . . . More birthday adventures!

Oklahoma State Fair 2010

Every year, Hannah's birthday falls during the Oklahoma State Fair. Every year, we take Hannah to the Oklahoma State Fair. A few years ago, Hannah's Meme and Papa introduced her to rides. Now, mommy and daddy get to pay for them. Is it worth it? I haven't decided yet. But she had a good time. Chloe is still too little to get to do much this year :-(

Here's a brief day in pictures . . .

Hannah didn't know Superman does NOT like "round and round" rides and wanted him to do this one with her :-)

Mommy LOVES heights and rides, so this one was actually sorta fun!
Where she gets the "peace" from, I don't know.

She was big enough to ride the train by herself.

Chloe was hot and CRANKY!!

Isn't he such a good daddy? A little more about why I love this man!

Keep a look out. More fun came at the end of this day . . .

Labor Day Outing

Like most working parents, Superman and I have to wait for the weekends or holidays to have "day dates" with our kiddos. What stinks about that is so does every other working parent so the "fun" places are crowded. On Labor Day, it was no different but we decided we didn't care and took the girls to the zoo. We didn't care how crowded it was - we were going to have a fun day at the zoo! And fun we had :-) Here are some pics to sum it up . . .

Right now, they are at the ages where they love each other!

But Chloe's not as sure about water - she's kinda girly

Hannah on the other hand LOVES the water!

Trying to tell sissy "it's okay, c'mon in!"

And although daddy is a real photographer, mommy is the blog photographer so I'm rarely seen in my own blog . . .

Except when I make Superman take a pic of me with my girls! I love those 2 faces. They make my smile big and bright :-)

School Days . . . In Pictures

Hannah's First Day of Pre-K

All Smiles :-)

The backpack is as big as her!
By the way, have I mentioned her favorite color is purple?!

Walking up to school . . . not at all intimidated.

Pausing to smile at mommy. I can't help but realize how small she looks!

Standing in line at the cafeteria. It was pure chaos!!! But she wasn't fazed at all! She had a great time.

Breakfast!

Ms Gorney helping Hannah get settled into class

Pre-K and Kindergarten classes lined up ready to head home after their first day of school

She LOVED school! She was upset that she didn't get to stay all day!

BUT . . .
After a half day of school and lunch with mommy and daddy, this kid was tired!

School? REALLY?!

So the posts from our trip to Houston are on hold for 2 reasons. First, our official photographer has the other 2 events worthy of mention on his camera and/or computer and has yet to send them to me. Second, a major event has happened in our house . . . Hannah started REAL school. Now, I clarify that this is REAL school because we call Mother's Day Out school too. But I mean REAL school!

I know we've heard parents say this for years, but really . . . it seems like only yesterday I was holding this tiny, helpless newborn in my arms. And now look at her. Getting big (well, at least she feels big) and going off to school on her own. I still can't believe it. She'll be 5 next month but I still don't feel like she's old enough. But enough of my sappiness. I'm getting a little teary-eyed just typing this ;-)

Hannah is attending pre-k at Fairview Elementary School. It's pretty close to home but it's not the school she will continue with. She will go to her "official" school starting next year but they do not offer a pre-k program and the girl was ready to start REAL school! Last Tuesday, we went to "Back to School" night where we got to see her classroom and meet the teacher. I had hoped this would ease some of my anxiety. Boy was I wrong . . . It was PURE CHAOS!!! I barely got to meet the teacher. I DEFINITELY didn't get to ask her any of the million questions in my mind!!!! But Hannah - she did great! She was all smiles as she saw other kids her age and then started putting away all the school supplies we had brought.

Then, we made her sign the paper saying she promised to follow the rules!!!
Wednesday night brought prep for the first big day. For Hannah, that meant a bath then freshly polished fingernails and toenails. Have I mentioned she is a girl? :-)

And can you tell her favorite color is purple? If you have any doubts be looking for the next post. Hopefully that will come tomorrow night.
